Stress

A message of introspection, inspiration, and motivation every weekday

Recently when stress got the best of me and threw my back out. Well I immediately took steps to change my work schedule and, the very next week, I resigned from two of the four contracts I had running. Having done that now meant that Tom and I had an exciting new opportunity to start focusing 100% of our work efforts towards our own business.

But figures! Now I have a new dilemma: I can’t stop from feeling guilty! A feeling like I’m not doing enough. I had become so accustomed to burning the candle at both ends – and in the middle – that now I don’t know what to do with myself!

So what’s the first thing I do? Beat myself up over it! Wasting valuable energy and positive resources on guilt! That doesn’t sound very productive, now does it!

Well it didn’t take me long to figure out what was going on here. So I did the best thing I could for myself. I poured myself a coffee and worked on my plan! Let’s face it, how do you know where you’re going if you don’t look at the map. And that’s what I did; I took a half-hour out and made a list of the things I had to do today that would make our business a success and then – I went back to work!

And you know what my biggest accomplishment was? When I had scratched one of the first items off my list as ‘complete’. I was getting things done, showing results, and immediately, the guilt went away!
