Workout, Strolling With Baby

Everyone wants to lose that extra weight after baby is born. Deciding how to accomplish this task and fit the routine into your hectic life can be the most difficult part of the task.

The answer may be in working your exercise routine into your quality time with baby. Stroller walks and jogs are a great way to give your workout routine a kick-start. Either before or after work, buckle baby up for a brisk walk to your favorite park or play center.

Before you get started, be sure to stretch out for at least five minutes. Next do a set of 20 crunches. Now you’re ready to head out the door! Walk briskly with your bottom tucked slightly under to help your workout be more productive. Take as long of strides as possible with the stroller. A jog stroller will allow you to take longer strides without bumping into the rear wheels. After walking briskly for three minutes slow your pace for three minutes. Continue alternating your pace for the remainder of your walk. Ideally, your walk will take at least 20 minutes.

Once you reach the park, let your little one get her exercise while you do a few simple cool-down stretches. A few good exercises to try for cool down include bending down to touch your toes, side bends and hip rotation. Romp with baby and have some fun now until she is all worn out. Now its time to head back home.

Alternate strength training with stroller walks. You can do strength training at home or at your local health club. All your need are some free weights. Some great basic exercises with free weights include, bent over rowing, squats and arm curls. Older kids love to imitate your movements and make up a routine of their own, even babies will love listening to the music. Of course this depends on your child, some days you may not be able to get through your whole routine without 10 interruptions.

Remember that permanent weight loss takes time. You should see noticeable results in six weeks. Eat a sensible diet and don’t cut your calories back to far if you are nursing. Remember, nursing moms burn approximately 500 calories more a day than normal. Measure your bust, waist, hips, thighs and upper arms. Changes can be gradual and watching these measurements will you keep track of your progress.

Keep it up and soon you will have reached your goal and developed a great new routine with your baby. Have fun at the park and watch those inches and pounds melt away!
